Convention Center Proposal on Fargo Ballot PAID FOR BY FARGO MOORHEAD | WEST FARGO -Paid Advertorial- Attention Fargo Voters This election day, Fargo voters will head to the polls to vote on a proposal to increase the city's lodging tax from 3% to 6% to fund a new convention center. The lodging tax is paid almost exclusively by visitors staying in local hotels and aims to establish a public-private partnership to fund the new facility. Fargo currently lacks the meeting and exhibition space it needs to attract large-scale events which are instead going to cities like Bismarck, Grand Forks, and Sioux Falls. The new convention center will help Fargo attract events while boosting visitor spending and positively impacting the local economy. This proposal is separate from the previous combined measure tied to Fargodome improvements that was funded by a sales tax increase. Instead, the new center would almost exclusively be funded by outside visitors to the area. "A convention center would attract a larger volume of events for our area as we've seen in other communities that built new centers like Rochester, MN and Madison, WI," said Charley Johnson, CEO of Visit Fargo-Moorhead. "It has the potential to bring significant outside dollars to local businesses, helping them to invest in employees, local services, and growth. Ultimately, that spending would filter into the whole community and benefit everyone. It also means creating new jobs right here in Fargo. -Paid Advertorial - Election Day is November 5th PAID FOR BY FARGO MOORHEAD WEST FARGO FARGO FARE Convention Center Proposal on Fargo Ballot PAID FOR BY FARGO MOORHEAD | WEST FARGO -Paid Advertorial- Attention Fargo Voters This election day , Fargo voters will head to the polls to vote on a proposal to increase the city's lodging tax from 3 % to 6 % to fund a new convention center .
