CHIROPRACTIC CARE My chiropractor has recommended I supplement my diet with fish oil. Can't I just eat fish instead? You can, but you must look for deep sea fish high in Omega-3 fatty acids, and preferably wild, not farm raised. Salmon, mackerel, albacore tuna, sardines, anchovies, and cod are examples of fish high in Omega-3's. Farm raised fish are fed smaller ground up fish and are found to have higher levels of contaminants such as heavy metals, dioxins, and PCB's and are therefore not recommended for consumption more than 1-2 times per month. A high-grade fish oil supplement, again from a wild fish population, is a good alternative if you are unable to find wild fish distributors or you do not like the flavor of those high in Omega-3's.
