CHIROPRACTIC CARE I am 20 years old and have headaches which have been worsening for the last year. My Dad said he had migraines in his 30's. How do I know if my headaches are becoming migraines? The cause of migraines is unknown, but evidence suggests they may be related to a family history in which blood circulation to the brain and/or scalp is malfunctioning. Migraines may occur at any age, but usually between ages 10-30, and occur more often in women than men. These types of headaches also usually decrease after age 50. People suffering from migraines sometimes have short periods of irritability, depression, visual disturbances, and/or numbness/tingling shortly before the headache. Pain may be generalized or on one side of the head. Usually the person having migraines will experience a specific pattern of symptoms. These attacks may occur daily or not for several months at a time. Nausea, vomiting, and light sensitivity are common, and the arms and hands may feel cold. Some symptoms noted are similar with headaches originating from the neck. Your chiropractor and neurologist can determine the best treatment based on your history of symptoms, and findings upon examination of the head and neck. Dr.Brook A.
